Motorway Maintenance

Hedge cutting, for many Local Authorities, is placed far down the priority list. However it is important for those Local Authorities responsible for the maintenance of our highways to manage the hedges that divide medians and that line the hard shoulders.

Lack of such management can give rise to a number of safety issues such as obstructing sight lines, obliterating signage, creating shade and thereby creating frost and ice pockets. Unkept hedging becomes a litter magnet and reflects badly on the local Authority concerned.

There is little saving to be gained in postponing hedge cutting as litter collecting costs increase, and work the following year will require more cutting thereby increasing costs.

CHM Maintenance has carried out countless hedge cutting contracts throughout Ireland and has developed a strong offer that is tailored to the needs of Local Authorities. We offer our expertise at a very competitive cost, and a methodology that combines hedge cutting and traffic management that does not compromise on Health and Safety or quality.

We at CHM Maintenance would be happy to provide for you a quotation that includes all of the features mentioned above.

Moss and weeds present a scruffy unprofessional image and can, in certain situations, provide cover for rodent infestation, pose a fire risk and can result in an increased amount of health and safety issues. There is a major cost saving to be achieved in regularly maintaining property and keeping it weed free by preventing cracking, metal corrosion and wood decay, thus dramatically increasing the lifespan of hard surfaces and fence lines. Our services are suitable for all industrial areas and we pay particular attention to some of the following areas:

  • Car Parks
  • Yards

  • Fallow Areas
  • Steps

Unwanted vegetation can obstruct water drainage leading to dampness problems, whilst weeds hold moisture which can cause water damage and decay to storage materials and building foundations.

All work is Guaranteed

Ragwort (Senecio Jacobea) is also known as ragweed, buachalan and buachalan buidhe. It is a common weed of Irish pastures and thrives on a wide range of soils, but competes best on lighter free draining soils. There are four main types found in Ireland and all four can interbreed. Ragwort is a highly poisonous plant if eaten by livestock. The only way to safeguard against loss from ragwort poisoning is to eradicate the weed.
